Arbaaz Khan - 'Dabangg' should also help Salman

Arbaaz Khan, who turned producer with Dabangg, hopes that the character of 'Chulbul Robinhood Pandey' will prove lucky for brother Salman Khan.

The 44-year-old actor, whose last hit film was Wanted, has not been lucky with his last three releases-Main Aurr Mrs Khanna, London Dreams and Veer.

However, Arbaaz is confident that Salman will be able to recreate the magic of Wanted through his production debut.

"Salman has helped me by featuring in my very first production. That gives me a lot of reasons to be happy and excited. I have to now see that Dabangg also helps Salman as well so that his stardom is intact," Arbaaz told.

"I have to not just benefit from my lead actor's star profile but also add value to his own self. If I don't do that, it is my loss, not his. This is why I worked hard to ensure that Dabangg turns out to be one more feather in Salman's cap," Arbaaz said.

Salman, sporting a moustache in the film, depicts the character of a fearless but corrupt policeman in the film, which is set in Uttar Pradesh and primarily deals with the unlawful practices in the state.

The film's promos and the raunchy track Munni Badnam where Salman is seen dancing with his sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan, have gained popularity in a short span of time.

Directed by Abhinav Singh Kashyap and releasing on September 10, the film marks the debut of actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha's daughter Sonakshi Sinha and also stars Om Puri, Dimple Kapadia, Vinod Khanna, Mahesh Manjrekar, Mahie Gill, Sonu Sood and Arbaaz himself.

However, Salman seems to be the getting all the spotlight in the film's promos. "What's wrong in that? When you have a star and actor like Salman, why won't you tell his fans what to expect from him? Despite Salman being around, we have kept in mind all believable aspects. We haven't gone overboard or compromised with the storyline," Arbaaz said.

Post Dabangg, as a producer, Arbaaz does not want to restrict only to action films and would like to experiment with different genres.

"My next film could be a drama, romance or a thriller. What is important is that the excitement of making something new should be such that it ignites a similar passion that I had when I started work on 'Dabangg'. Once that happens, I am game for any genre," Arbaaz said.
